Serology testing largely depends on formal phlebotomy. In order to expand serology testing into the broader community, we need to able to collect blood without the need for phlebotomy.

We are looking for examples where small volume blood collection, coupled with elution where relevant, can be used for COVID-19 antibody testing for immediate or very rapid roll out.

Helping to establish when immunity occurs

Whilst many people are being tested for presence of RNA and for antibody production, select some populations for repeated testing of both and monitor symptoms and clinical signs and other evidence of likely source(s) of infection/ re-infection. This with a view to elucidating when immunity occurs. Maybe do the same in a control group, age and sex matched, to help interpret the findings. Groups that could followed include clinical staff, and long term care facility patients. This could...

A revolutionary COVID-19 (S glycoprotein) rapid test strip

We have developed a revolutionary COVID-19 (S glycoprotein) rapid test strip , which is completely different from nucleic acid detection and antibodies detection.  The advantages of this new antigen (S protein) detection strip are: 1. Rapid direct detection: c an detect the presence of virus directly and get the result within 5-15 minutes . 2. Non-invasive detection: innovative use of respiratory secretions (nasal mucus, sputum) and stool testing,. 3. High specificity: the...

Fingerstick blood collection and preservation

6 drops of blood are collected in the Hem-Col tube. In the tube a preservation fluid preserves the blood for upto 5 days. Blood can be send by regular postal services to the lab. In the lab the blood can be analysed on the usual clinical chemistry, immunchemistry and hematology analysers. By measuring an internal standard the results can be corrected for dilution by the preservation fluid.

Novel Blood Collection Device that Enables Small-Volume Capillary Blood Collection for Diagnostic Testing

BD would like to engage in exploratory discussions about a novel, easy to use blood collection device, that is currently in development. BD in partnership with Babson Diagnostics has developed a revolutionary capillary blood collection system that eliminates the challenges commonly faced with traditional capillary collection. It can be easily used for blood collection without phlebotomy training, and this device consistently and reliably provides a few hundreds of microliters of...
