OM-505 and OR-100 devices - currently being tested in the USA

Additional information

No I haven't.

However, I have contacted the company DNA Genotek and this is one of the answers I received:

"We do have more information regarding our kits and their use in COVID-19 testing including some relevant documentation, the account manager can connect with you to discuss these."

"However we do not yet have data on samples collected with our devices. We do know that our stabilization solution can accommodate a very broad spectrum of microbiome activity spanning bacteria to viruses".

I personally was interested in this company years back when I was exploring safe sampling for MTB (with the hope to do qPCR from salivia instead of sputum). This company has been around for a long time and specialised on microbiome and human genomics

Have you validated this method, if so, how and what were the results of the validation?

As stated above, after contacting a customer support agent of DNA Genotek:

they told me that:

"We do have more information regarding our kits and their use in COVID-19 testing including some relevant documentation, the account manager can connect with you to discuss these."

How quickly could this be deployed and what are the dependencies?

I haven't thought about this yet but I can easily relay the information the company will send me today (USA) regarding the current effort in using those swabs for COVID19 diagnosis.

What is the likely production volume?

I am unsure.

What are the risks and barriers to using this at scale?

Production line maximal capacity from this company is unknown to me.

Who are you already partnering with on this?

I have only informally spoken to the company and requested more information which I can forward/pass on if of interest to you.

Dear Professor Jo Martin, I just had the account manager for UK, France and Switzerland who will send me more details as soon as he can. He knows that the the 2 collection swabs (as far as I understand, one dry and one a sponge) are being CURRENTLY validated in house but the results are not expected until the end of this week or next week. I will carry on feeding back to you. BW

I must also add that when and if they get the validation for COVID19 they also need FDA approval (even though they are based in Ontario) before making the claim that it can preserve COVID19

I have just received some more information from this company (3 documents below). The company is currently testing in house for SARS-CoV2 using qPCR on their collecting devices (and on salivia). Results to be expected in the next 2 weeks.
