RT-PCR detection directly from sample

Based on our patent WO2016106113 we believe that a direct from sample RT-PCR reaction can be used to detect Covid-19 without the need of an extraction step. This technology could be used on any open qPCR/RT-PCR equipment already existing on most of the labs. This will enable faster detection & eliminate the RNA extraction bottleneck. 

Have you validated this method, if so, how and what were the results of the validation?​

Validation has been limited for this specific application. Feasibility work would be required to determine the viability. We would allocate any resources necessary to get the experiments to fully validate the feasibility in around 2 weeks once the raw materials that are necessary are received.

How quickly could this be deployed and what are the dependencies?​

We should be receiving the materials required to perform the feasibility in 1 or 2 weeks, and feasibility work would need just 2 weeks. As the product will be based on an RT-PCR that we already commercialized, we could have a commercialized product in few weeks

What is the likely production volume?​

We can adapt to any scale

What are the risks and barriers to using this at scale?​

No barriers identified other that the raw materials. We would manufacture this in Cardiff (UK)

Who are you already partnering with on this?

We are not partnering with anyone on this one. We would be looking testing labs that could validate the results quickly

Hi, I know that the status says not for further challenge. But just as a quick update if it is of interest. In the last few weeks we have demonstrated feasibility on viral mimic samples with excellent results and are currently pursuing options to test with real samples
