Compatible Media to inactivate virus and subsequent pipeline structure

Use of standard detergent based lysis buffer compatible with RNA isolation kits. It is important to use RNA isolation kits in 96 ( or more) well format. I am sure it is easy to set up a 96 well plate RNA extraction assay connected to vacuum manifold. We do use similar pipeline for high throughput protein extraction for Mass Spectrometry based proteomics. 

Have you validated this method, if so, how and what were the results of the validation?

Not validated in my lab. We use a similar approach for protein extraction. However with change of reagent and matrices compatible with RNA, this pipeline could potentially be used.

How quickly could this be deployed and what are the dependencies?

Quick search reveals availability of 96 well plate RNA extraction set ups via various manufacturers.

What is the likely production volume?

If the sample is stored in kit compatible lysis buffer, this is a high throughput approach leading to processing of multiple batches of samples ( 96 or x multiples) simultaneously. 

What are the risks and barriers to using this at scale?

Availability of compatible kit components if not manufactured within UK.
